What to Expect From Our Fishing Boat Rentals Ontario Guests Love

Our fishing boat rentals Ontario families rely on are small outboard motor boats built for practical use on Lake Dalrymple. They are reliable, easy to operate, and perfectly sized for navigating the two connected basins of the lake. Upper Lake Dalrymple is shallow and weedy, full of bays that hold pike and bass. Lower Lake Dalrymple is deeper with rocky structure and open water where walleye and muskie hunt. Our boats handle both comfortably.

Each rental is ready for you at the dock when you arrive. Stop by the resort's convenience store before you head out to pick up live bait, worms, minnows, and any last-minute snacks or drinks. Kawartha Dairy ice cream is available for your victory lap back at the dock.

Life jackets are provided with every rental. We recommend bringing your own tackle, fishing rod, sunscreen, and a cooler for your catch. If you forget something small, our on-site store has you covered.

Boat Rental Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most from first-time guests.

What kind of boats do you rent?

We rent small outboard motor boats ideal for fishing and recreational use on Lake Dalrymple. They are practical, easy to operate, and well suited to the size and depth profile of the lake. Our boats handle both the shallow weedy bays of Upper Lake Dalrymple and the deeper open water of Lower Lake Dalrymple.

How much does a boat rental cost?

Rates vary by package duration. We offer half-day, full-day, multi-day, and full-week rental options. For the most accurate current pricing, please visit our online booking system or call the resort directly at 705-833-2400. We recommend booking in advance during the summer season as boats are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat?

Yes. In Ontario, a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), commonly known as a boating license, is required for all operators of motorized boats. This applies to rentals and privately owned vessels alike. If you do not have your PCOC, you can complete the Transport Canada approved course and exam online before your trip.

Is gas included in the rental?

Fuel arrangements depend on the rental package. Please confirm the specific fuel and oil policy when you book. Our booking system and the resort office will walk you through exactly what is included and what you are responsible for before you head out on the water.

Can I bring my own boat to the resort?

Yes. Docking is available at the resort for guests who bring their own boats. Let us know at the time of booking so we can confirm docking availability during your stay. Remember that your PCOC must be valid for operation on Ontario waters.

Are life jackets provided?

Yes. Life jackets are provided with every boat rental as required by Transport Canada. Please make sure everyone on board wears a properly fitted life jacket while the boat is in motion. If you have small children, we recommend bringing a child-sized life jacket that fits them well.

What should I bring with me?

For a typical day on the water, we recommend bringing your own fishing gear, tackle, a valid Ontario fishing licence, sunscreen, a hat, drinking water, snacks, and a cooler for your catch. Live bait, worms, minnows, and additional supplies are available at our on-site convenience store. A small first-aid kit and a charged phone are always good ideas.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first. Our staff will communicate with you if conditions are unsafe for boating. Storms and high winds can move through the Kawarthas quickly, so keep an eye on the forecast and plan accordingly. If you have questions about your rental due to weather, please contact the resort office.

How do I reserve a boat rental?

You can book your boat rental directly through our online reservation system. We recommend reserving your boat at the same time as your cottage to guarantee availability, especially for summer weekends and holiday weeks. Boats do fill up during peak season.

Do you rent kayaks or canoes?

Our rental program is focused on outboard fishing boats. However, the resort does have kayaks available for guest use from our small private sandy beach for a relaxed paddle along the shoreline. Check with the office on arrival for current availability.
