Found throughout the lake's weedy shallows, downed timber, and lily pad structures. The bass bite is strong from late spring through fall. Top-water action is excellent at dawn and dusk.

Fishing Tips for Lake Dalrymple

Whether this is your first visit or you have been coming for years, here are a few tips to help you make the most of your fishing getaway near Toronto at Lake Dalrymple Resort.

Target Northern Pike in Shallow Bays

Northern pike are the star of Lake Dalrymple. Focus on the weedy bays and shallow flats of Upper Lake Dalrymple, especially in the spring and early summer when pike move into warmer water to feed aggressively after spawning. Use large spinner baits, spoons, or jerkbaits for best results. Always use a steel or fluorocarbon leader because pike teeth will cut through standard line in seconds.

Fish the Structure on Lower Lake Dalrymple

The deeper northern basin holds excellent structure for walleye, smallmouth bass, and muskie. Target rocky points, submerged shoals, and the deep weed edges near Avery Point. Early morning and late evening are prime times for walleye. Slow trolling with live bait near the bottom produces consistent results.

Pick Up Live Bait at Our Store

Stop by the resort's convenience store when you arrive. We carry live bait including worms and minnows, as well as a selection of snacks, drinks, and the best ice cream in the Kawarthas from Kawartha Dairy. Grab everything you need before heading out on the water.
